Jinger Duggar Opens Up for the First Time About Shocking Truth Behind Her Third Child’s Birth Defect

Jinger Vuolo (née Duggar) addressed rumors that her children are “disabled,” which circulated after she stopped showing their faces on social media.

While participating in a Q&A via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, April 3, one person asked Jinger, 31, to “show us your girls,” adding, “Is one disabled in some way?”

“I’ve never answered this question but sadly it’s been a rumor for years. This is actually why we don’t show our children’s faces and choose to give them privacy,” Jinger began in the lengthy response. “1) People demand to see them. 2) We don’t want to subject our kids to how cruel some people can be in their judgements. It’s honestly just sad to see these comments come in.”

After explaining why she and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, don’t post photos of their children’s faces on social media, Jinger insisted that none of her kids are disabled.

“We have been blessed with three healthy children. But even if God had chosen to give us a child with a medical condition, that would in NO WAY change the way we share them on socials,” the Counting On alum concluded. “Every life is precious and a gift from God.”

While Jinger and Jeremy, 37, have no problems discussing their kids on social media and on their podcast, they have been open about wanting to keep photos of them offline in the past. In December 2023, she explained their reasoning during an Instagram Stories Q&A.

“We wanted to give our sweet girls privacy,” she told her fans at the time. “If they choose to be in the public eye when they grow up, that would be just fine.”

Jinger and Jeremy share daughters Felicity Nicole, 6, and Evangeline Jo, 4, and they welcomed their son, Finnegan Charles, on March 29.

“It was a pretty fairly great delivery,” Jinger shared in a YouTube video posted on March 30 about her son’s delivery. “I’m just so thankful to God that we have this healthy baby boy here with us.”

When it came to naming their baby boy, the couple explained that they “both just loved that name.”

“I think the name Finnegan was one that Jeremy came up with and once he mentioned it, I was like, ‘Oh, I love that name,’” Jinger said. “It’s so strong.”

Not only did Jinger shut down rumors about her kids having disabilities during the recent Q&A, but she also revealed how her mother, Michelle Duggar, helped her and Jeremy after she gave birth to their son.

After one fan asked if Michelle, 58, was still in California, Jinger responded, “Yes, my mom is still in town and has been helping me with my recovery and late nights with Finn. We couldn’t do it without her!”

“Jer’s parents just left the other day. We are truly blessed with the best family and community of support!” she continued alongside a photo of her and Michelle posing with Finnegan in the hospital.

She also answered questions about her birth experience, sharing that she “got induced” at 40 weeks pregnant. “It was the best birth experience and everything went so smooth. God is so kind!” the former TLC star added.
