Serious Accident Halts Filming on “Gold Rush”: Crew Member Injured in Machinery Mishap

A serious accident has brought filming of Discovery’s hit reality show Gold Rush to a sudden halt after a crew member was critically injured during a mining operation in remote Alaska.

The incident occurred late last week at one of Parker Schnabel’s active mining sites, where the team was filming scenes for the upcoming Season 15. According to on-site witnesses, a large haul truck suffered a mechanical failure—believed to be brake-related—causing it to veer off a steep incline and crash into a nearby work zone.

The injured crew member has been identified as Tyler McCabe, a heavy equipment operator and longtime member of Parker’s team. McCabe was reportedly pinned beneath part of the vehicle’s frame and sustained multiple injuries, including a broken leg and suspected rib fractures.

Emergency responders were dispatched immediately. Due to the remote location, a medevac helicopter was required to airlift McCabe to a trauma center in Anchorage, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Discovery Channel released a statement expressing their concern and confirming a temporary shutdown in production:

“The health and safety of our cast and crew are our top priority. We are working closely with local authorities to investigate the cause of this incident and will pause production while safety protocols are reviewed.”
