‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Season 4: Chad Michael Murray, Morgan Kohan navigate secrets in Maggie’s past with Liam
Recap of “Sullivan’s Crossing” Season 4, Episode 3, including detailed spoilers
The love triangle between Maggie (Morgan Kohan), Cal (Chad Michael Murray) and Liam (Marcus Rosner) continues to be complicated in Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4. In Episode 3 of the season, we see Cal discover that Maggie hasn’t been entirely honest with him about the circumstances of her annulment all those years ago.
The episode begins with Maggie reassuring Cal that she “hasn’t heard a word” from Liam in years. And while it’s been a long time, it may not have been as long as Maggie has been letting on.
So here’s how Cal found out more information about Maggie and Liam’s relationship.
The couple agreed to ensure that even while Liam is at the Crossing, they’ll make time for each other, starting with a nighttime picnic to watch the Aurora Borealis, which will be visible in Timberlake and the surrounding areas.
Leading up to their romantic evening, Edna (Andrea Menard) decides that the arrival of the northern lights is her sign to get back to work, and it doesn’t take long for her to be a sounding board for both Cal and Maggie.
Cal sees her first and admits to Edna that Liam at the Crossing is bothering him, particularly after he saw that he has that wedding photo. But Edna reminds him to focus on getting Maggie’s divorce filed, so Cal and Maggie can move on with their lives together.
A little later in the episode, as Maggie has been particularly overwhelmed trying to run things with Sully gone, she’s excited to see Edna back at work. But she also quickly opens up about how Liam being at the Crossing is impacting her, and her relationship with Cal, just as the necklace that Cal gave her breaks. Maybe it’s a sign of things to come, but Edna reassures her that everything will work out.
Edna is curious about Liam, so she sends Frank (Tom Jackson) to figure out why Liam is really at the Crossing. When Frank goes to Liam’s cabin, he tells Liam he wants to see where he stepped in the trap, so Frank can ensure there aren’t others nearby.
That’s when Frank says Maggie is in a good place, and he doesn’t want anyone or anything to change that, but Liam reassures him that he doesn’t want to hurt Maggie again.
Moving forward to Cal and Maggie’s romantic picnic date, when Cal goes to the Outpost to get some blankets, he sees that Edna left him some papers that were faxed over from Maggie’s divorce lawyer. A copy of Maggie’s original annulment filing states that she was married for a year before filing.
It’s during that time that Maggie sees Liam, who came out to see the northern lights, and Maggie stresses that they can be friendly with each other while he’s at the Crossing.
Liam leaves when Cal comes back out, and Cal tells Maggie he saw the original annulment filing and questions why she told him she filed for annulment shortly after she married Liam, when the papers indicate she waited a year before filing.
“When are you going to tell me what really happened?” Cal says as the episode comes to a close.

While we wait to see how that turns out for the couple, they’re also dealing with other things in their lives independently.
Cal confronted Ben (Colby Frost) about taking Quincy’s (Jonathan Silverman) watch, and when Ben admitted what he’d done, Cal accepted his honesty and allowed Ben to keep his job.
Maggie is taking steps to open a general practice and discovers she’ll have to complete another residency. If she doesn’t want to go all the way to a teaching hospital in Halifax to do so, she has to find a local doctor who will agree to supervise.
So Maggie goes back to the clinic she went to with Liam after he hurt his leg and finds out that the guest at the Crossing, Quincy, is the doctor. She asks him if he’ll agree to supervise her residency so she can work in Canada as a general practice doctor. He tells her to come back so she can see how he teaches, and he can see how she is as a student.
And to commemorate the move, Maggie decides to get a tattoo of a butterfly on her back.
Maggie also asked Liam in Episode 3 about the keloid scars she saw on his back, but he didn’t answer.
So there are a lot of unanswered questions we still have, as the mystery of Maggie and Liam’s relationship continues on Sullivan’s Crossing.
