Her mom, Mama June Shannon, caught up with PEOPLE on Wednesday, April 29, at the AMC Global Media 2026 Upfront event, where she shared that her 20-year-old daughter Alana is set to graduate from college next year. “She is in Denver. She’s been out there. She’s following her dreams of being a PICU [pediatric intensive care unit] nurse,” Shannon says. “She works at a hospital in Denver, and she also is gonna be graduating next year.” Lauryn Efird, Alana Thompson, Jessica Shannon and June Shannon visits SiriusXM Studios. Although Shannon and her family haven’t set any plans for Alana’s graduation yet, they are looking forward to her 21st birthday. “We have nothing planned for graduation, but Alana turns 21 in August,” she continues. “So we have Vegas.” Shannon is mom to four daughters: Alana, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid, and Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who died on Dec. 9, 2023, after being diagnosed with adrenal carcinoma. Alana Thompson, Lauryn Efird, Jessica Shannon and June Shannon at SiriusXM Studios.Gary Gershoff/Getty This past September, Shannon shared that her daughter Alana had gotten into a car accident and was T-boned while pulling out of her driveway in Denver. “Somebody actually wasn’t paying attention and T-boned her on her road,” Mama June revealed in an Instagram post. “They are always speeding on the road.” However, Shannon said Alana was “lucky,” as the 23-year-old man who was driving the other vehicle admitted he was “going 40 miles an hour and probably wasn’t paying attention.” “But anyway, with that being said, Alana is fine,” Shannon continued, adding of Alana: “She was hit on the driver’s side of her car. It could have been a lot worse. She was [taken] to the hospital. She does have back pain, she is having some headache issues, but we are headed to Denver to be able to get her a rental car and to get her set.”
