Mama June: Family Crisis star June Shannon is currently dealing with criticism and serious concerns regarding the authenticity of season 8 after Jessica and Shyann’s abrupt divorce announcement days ago. Now, more details are emerging that were left out of the show.

June is certainly the queen of hype, and she keeps her fans on their toes. Mama June had promised that dark secrets about her nemesis son-in-law, Josh Efird, would be revealed. The finale blew up after Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ revealed that Josh slept with Shyann and Jessica. The entire finale centered around Jessica and Shyann. Even Shyann’s mom, Trina, got caught up in the season’s big drama, constantly arguing with June. Trina was a nemesis to June when Josh wasn’t for the whole season 8.

Mama June Breaks Silence About Fan Fallout

June told viewers, “Look, guys, this is very real. They got married in February of last year and had a wedding in October. You have to understand that sometimes things don’t work out and people decide to go their separate ways. This is fake, but it’s very real. Jessica will still be there for Harper. They just wanted you to know before you heard it from other sources and all.”

The Truth About Shyann’s Mom

After the shocking divorce announcement, fans started questioning the authenticity of the whole season. Things about Shyann’s life began to surface that viewers did not know. Old social media posts from 2023 surfaced about Shyann’s real mom and not Trina. Shyann posted:

“So I have something to say and it’s been going on awhile but I’m tired of it someone in my birth family is mad bc I won’t call my birth mom my mom but it’s the truth Christy is not my mother she is my birth mom the one who gave birth to me but a MOTHER is someone who sticks around and takes care of you and is there for you every step of the way in your life and my mama, @Trina mccant has done that and will continue to do that no matter what”

Shyann continued “I will say it again where everyone can see it Christy is NOT my mother she is my birth giver and that’s that and that will NEVER change I appreciate her giving birth to me and giving me to Trina Childree McCant I do but that’s it and idc what y’all have to saying but the arguing about me calling someone my mom that isn’t stops now!”

Mama June Drama Continues With More Secrets

Jessica took to TikTok to explain that the wedding on the show was not her real wedding, that they filmed the Josh-officiating wedding in October 2025, but that they were actually already legally married on February 21st, 2025. So does that mean all the wedding planning and the Trina drama with June Shannon was fake?

Trina McCant has now made a huge announcement regarding who she really is.

“I adopted Shyann when she was very young. Over the years, she has tried to have a relationship with her birth mother, but unfortunately there has never been much follow-through on the birth Mom’s part. Shyann was one of three out of five children who were placed for adoption. Her birth mom kept custody of her oldest and youngest. She had her reasoning for letting them being adopted and I have never judged her for that. How could I? She blessed me with Shyann. 

While there was a legal process that made Shyann my daughter, I have never once looked at her as anything less than that. She is my daughter in every way that matters. Love, commitment, and showing up every day are what make a family—not biology alone.

I have also adopted my oldest granddaughter, Aubrey, who many people know as “Booga” from the show. The younger boy is also my grandson, although there has never been an adoption. Harper is my youngest granddaughter and has been raised by Shyann, Jessi, and myself since she was a baby. I also have a son, another daughter and 3 more grandchildren. I respect their privacy and do not share any of them publicly.
