‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Season 4: Chad Michael Murray’s Cal finally confronts Liam about breaking Maggie’s heart
Recap of “Sullivan’s Crossing” Season 4, Episode 4 with detailed spoilers
Heading into Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4, Episode 4, the big question is how Cal (Chad Michael Murray) will move forward with Maggie (Morgan Kohan) after finding out that she lied about the annulment of her marriage to Liam (Marcus Rosner), and she was actually married for a year. But the couple are still going strong, after Maggie promises there will be no more secrets.
“I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you. It’s just that I got married to a man I knew for a month, and he disappeared. He left for a job, and I never heard from him again,” Maggie says, with tears in her eyes. “I felt so stupid. I completely lost myself in that man. I was ready to uproot my life. I trusted him and he left me. I feel ashamed about the whole situation and I never want to feel like that again, Cal.”
“Whatever you had with Liam, he blew it,” Cal says in response.
“He made it really hard for me to trust anyone, until you,” Maggie adds. “You know everything now. No more secrets.”
That leads to Maggie promptly signing the divorce papers, and Cal says that they need to be dropped off to Liam by a third party, so he offers to bring them over.
While Cal expected Liam to sign right away, that’s not the case. Liam says he needs some time to read over the documents, and can drop them off at the courthouse himself.
“Follow through isn’t exactly your strong suit, is it,” Cal says, calling out Liam for disrupting Maggie’s life again, after her abandoned her and breaking her heart. “The least you could do for Maggie is take your divorce seriously.”
Maggie and Quincy don’t see eye-to-eye at the clinic
Meanwhile, Maggie is shadowing Quincy (Jonathan Silverman) at his clinic, and he’s very adamant that Maggie’s job is to “follow [his] lead.”
Things get particularly tense when Cal brings Tracy (Emerson MacNeil) and Ben (Colby Frost) to the clinic, after Edna (Andrea Menard) noticed Tracy was having trouble breathing.
Quincy says it seems to be an asthma flare-up, and wants to set up a nebulizer treatment for her and send her home with an inhaler. Leaving Maggie to ask Tracy some questions about her health history, Tracy doesn’t know whether she has a history of asthma or any allergies. Maggie says she should really talk to their mom, and Ben says he’ll call her. That’s when Tracy seems to start panicking and breathing heavily, concerning Quincy when he gets back into the room.
When Quincy asks Maggie what happened, he also stresses that it was her job to calm Tracy down and questions Maggie’s ability to care for patients who are children.
Things get more tense when Maggie suggests that Quincy should test Tracy for gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Quincy, who’s satisfied with his assessment of Tracy, says that Maggie needs to follow his instincts, and question whether this residency with him will work.
What is Liam hiding?
Back at the Crossing, Frank (Tom Jackson) spends some time with Liam and shares with him that Maggie thought her dad, Sully, had abandoned her, and it wasn’t until she heard the whole story that she was able to heal from that.
As Liam is about to sign the divorce papers, he pulls out the wedding picture in his wallet, and there’s a flashback to the moment after their wedding, when Maggie said, “I will always love you.”
That’s when Liam’s phone rings, and we hear him saying to the person on the other end of the line that he’s been waiting for their call, and he’s sure that he needs to tell Maggie something. And we still don’t know who Liam has been talking to.
Liam goes to find Maggie, and he tells her he wants to explain why he never called and why he disappeared after they got married.
But Maggie’s not ready to hear it. She believes that Liam left for an assignment and realized that she wasn’t “exciting” enough for him.
“I’m happy now. I’m with Cal and he loves me for who I am,” Maggie says, adding that she thought Liam was dead until she saw him publish his article.
Liam starts to explain what happened when he left for his assignment, but then Maggie gets a phone call from Cal. Tracy was sleeping in the back of the Outpost and when Ben went to check on her, he noticed that she was burning up with a fever. Maggie runs to the outpost to check on Tracy, so we still don’t know why Liam never contacted Maggie after their wedding, and why he showed up at the Crossing unannounced.
